Juicing has been a popular dieting method for several years now and it has recently seen a resurgence as there has been a greater focus placed, not necessarily on weight loss, but in healthy, nutritious and sustainable eating habits. Drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juice as a major part of one’s meal or meals throughout the day is healthy, because it packs a great deal of nutrition – vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber – without any preservatives, fat, salt or refined sugar. The practice of juicing is also a sustainable, green habit as it does not involve eating meat of any kind, thereby not supporting the unethical and unsustainable factory farming practices that is rampant in the non-organic meat industry.
For the most healthy juice, go for a green juice and include plenty of spinach or kale. These vegetables pack an incredible amount of vitamins and nutrients. Carrots add a nice touch of sweetness and celery will add some nutrition without adding a strong flavor. To add even more sweetness to your juice, add fruits like apples, kiwi and mango. Including fruits like these will essentially mask as much of the vegetable flavor as you need, if you do not like the taste of green vegetables in your juice. After making your juice, you can also add some banana in a blender to create a more smoothie-like consistency. Drinking one or two glasses of fresh juice as part of your daily diet will not only be an incredible boon to your overall health, but also improve the look of your skin and hair.
